Administrative:
Donor (b.1934) and his sister Barbara (b. 1935 now Mrs Barbara Maycock) lived in the upstairs accommodation. They have provided further biographical information which is kept on the accession file. The premises were demolished to make way for the Roman Way development in the 1970s.
Parents of donor (Mr and Mrs Henry Wickham) owned the shop from their marriage in 1930 (when given the business as a wedding present by his parents) until 1943 when Mr and Mrs Wickham sold the business, and the family moved to Courtney Road. Mr Wickham worked as a music teacher, both before and after the sale, and later in music publishing for Keith Prowse Ltd, Poland St, London.
Although not able to undertake active service during WWII, he served as a locall ARP co-ordinator.
