Administrative:
The United Reformed Church is governed by a General Assembly, beneath which there are thirteen synods. Each synod had, until they were disbanded in 2007, district councils at local level. The Croydon District Council comprised around 20 churches. Most of these churches were within the London Borough of Croydon but others were further afield in East Surrey, West Sussex and, in the case of Marsh Green near Edenbridge (where the intermediary attends), Kent. They met around six times per year.
An index to the minutes (not complete) was subsequently provided by the donor together with a Southern District Synod Handbook, 2006 which lists churches in the District.
