Scope and content

Copies of five letters written by Josephine Hall to her husband Edward. Mrs Hall was evacuated with her young daughter (who is now the owner of the letters) and baby son to Brighton in September 1939. She was homesick, and found her accommodation cramped and uncomfortable; her problems were exacerbated by the fact that she was deaf. She returned home, with her children, after a week, and remained in Croydon during the War.
