Administrative:
Served as Bandmaster at Shirley Schools from 1923 until his death in 1973, having formerly served with the Royal Marines and H.M.Life Guards. Under his leadership, the band achieved a fine reputation. He was married to Elsie (d.29 August 1966) who also acted as a house parent at the Schools and they had one daughter, Marjorie (see A919). He lived at 203 Devonshire Way, Shirley and died in 1973.
Donor is the niece of Harry Thomas Mather, son in law to Leonard Evans Parr.
