Administrative history

The photograph album was presented to Edward A Martin, FGS (1863 - 1943) by members of the Croham Hurst Preservation Committee, as an expression of thanks for instituting the movement preventing the sale of Croham Hurst for building.

Archival history

The album remained in Edward Martins possession until his death in 1943. His daughter, Winnifred Elbrow, donated the volume to Croydon Library. It was transferred from the Local Studies Library collection (fS70(806)CRO) in 1999.

Presented to Edward A Martin, FGS, by members of the Croham Hurst Preservation Committee, as an expression of thanks for instituting the movement for the purchase of Croham Hurst. Contains illuminated dedication, list of contributors, portrait of E A Martin, photographs of rural scenes and four watercolours. Pages of album decorated with ink drawings of leaves. Also 4ff of notes on E A Martin and the album, by his grand daughter Pauline Robinson (1987).
