Records relating to Coulsdon and Purley Urban District Council collected by Trevor Austin, the last surviving Elected Member of C&P UDC, which was amalgamated with the County Borough of Croydon in 1965. Includes:

Includes heads of households only.

Contains name of deceased, cost and details of funeral, name of person by whom the account was settled. The volume includes a name index for the latter.

Each entry gives description of house and price of sale or rent; some entries include copy of printed sale particulars. Properties are mostly in South and Upper Norwood but other locations are also included.

The collection consists of a petition presented to the Corporation of Croydon by the Croham Hurst Preservation Committee in 1899 and reprints of Croydon Advertiser newspaper articles which were evidently used by the Croham Hurst Preservation Committee as publicity material.

Photograph album presented to Edward Martin by the Croham Hurst Preservation Society. The collection also contains notes about Mr Martin and the album written by his grandaughter.

Croydon Fire Brigade occurrence book for Woodside Fire Station, Monday 23rd October 1961 to Wednesday 11th April 1962.

Signature book opened 17th September 1932. Evidently used for post war meetings of the Croydon Repertory Association.

Minutes of the various commitees of Norwood Cottage Hospital including the minutes of the first meeting which was held at St. Andrews Hall, Norwood, on 12 June 1882. The minutes also include newspaper reports and other ephemera.

Log book of Tenterden Road Fire Watchers. The log book records incidents or otherwise recorded between 6pm and 7am daily together with signature of the fire watcher on duty. It contains detailed times of air raid incidents.

Note in the front cover records that the object of this book is to compile an accurate record of the Tenterden Road Fire Watchers. As it may well prove to be of service to us, either collectively or indvidually, should evidence be required regarding duty periods or claims for compensation etc, it is essential that all details should be correctly entered..

A note at the rear, signed by J.G.Chesher (of 20 Tenterden Road, leader of the Tenterden Road Fire Watchers) and dated 13 September 1944 indicates that an order had been received to end the fire watching rota and log book on the night of Sunday 17 September 1944.
