Herons Croft aka The Elms at 96 Addiscombe Road is thought to be the oldest surviving small domestic buildings in Croydon. It was built, according to a plaque in the house, between 1493 and 1590. It was transferred to the Whitgift Estate in 1599 until the freehold was purchased by former occupier prior, Mr Charles Mason, in 1935.
