Log Book of the 15th Southern Croydon St Peters Scout Group, Earl Haig Patrol

Log book of the Earl Haig Patrol, 15th Southern Croydon, St Peters Rover Scouts. The log book begins on 01 November 1928 as the first log book covering the preceding year had evidently been lost. The purpose of the log was to record a true and unbiased account of the activities of the Patrol, a list of members together with their addresses, a record of Tests passed and any correspondence received.. The volume includes correspondence, programmes and details of camps, including a camp by six rovers at Corbion in Belgium in August 1929 although there is little information after this date.

The log book was compiled by Eric Cleaver, ASM, of 77 St Peters Road.

Illuminated List of Subscribers to Portrait of Jabez Spencer Balfour, 1St Mayor of Croydon

An illuminated address which accompanied a portrait of J. Spencer Balfour which had been painted by public subscription. The portrait and address were presented to J. Spencer Balfour at a meeting of the Town Council at the Town Hall on 5th October 1885 by the Reverend J. M. Braithwaite, Vicar of Croydon.

The address reads, In unveiling the Portrait of yourself now placed in the Council Chamber of the Town Hall of Croydon, as a permanent memorial of your Mayoralty, we, whose names are hereto attached, sesire to record our high appreciation of the distinguished services which you rendered to the Borough during your prolonged term of office, and we further beg your acceptance of a replica of the portrait, together with a small token of our regard to Miss Balfour who afforded you so much graceful in the assistance in the exercise of your generous hospitality. It is followed by 186 names.

Two copies of the portrait were made; one was presented to Balfour while the other was hung in Council Chamber of the Town Hall.

Bible published by the British and Foreign Bible Society, 1863. The volume has a black fabric dust jacket with the word Bible embroidered on it; probably made for it while it was in the custody of the School [?c1930s-1940s].

Consists of two copies of a document giving a brief history of the company from its formation in February 1941 onwards, including details of land patrolled and other anecdotes. Other documents give detail of training, rules on parade and how to use certain weapons. Also includes two photographs members of the company, including the winning first aid team.

Daybook of the firm of Samuel Waghorn (later normally spelled Waghorne), wheelwrights and coachbuilders, covering the periods 1788-1800 and 1826-1828.

Section 1 (Samuel Waghorn II) is arranged in rough chronological order by customer name, listing under each name the various jobs done under a period of time - often several months - before an account was settled. Nov 1788 - Mar 1800

Section 2 (Samuel Waghorn III) is arranged in strict chronological order, detailing the work done on each day. 22 Jun 1826 - 31 Dec 1828.

The endpapers were used by Samuel I to record expenses, income from rent, and miscellaneous work done.

A sale particular for shop and premises in the High Street is inserted into the volume. 15 Dec 1818.
