Croydon Writers Circle: Correspondence

There are two sequences of general correspondence in date order 1948 - 12 April 1966 and 28 Jan 1946 - 20 Feb 1991. In addition there are five other letters dated 1978 and a congratulations card marking the societys fourtieth anniversary

Croydon Writers Circle: Photographs

Comprises photographs of various events mostly the first Authors Book Week opened by Noel Streatfield on 4 November 1949. In addition there are photographs commemorating the Croydon Writers Circle summer outing in 1952 ,the presentation ceremony to the winner of the Poetry Section, Neil Vermont, in November 1983, Croydon Arts Day held in the Whitgift Centre in October 1985 and a small album of photographs taken at the fortieth anniversary party held at Fairfield Halls in July 1985

Croydon Writers Circle: Newspaper Cuttings

This comprises of three ring binders dating 22 June 1945 to 5 October 1953, 20 April 1974 to June 1993 and lastly March 1989 to March 1992. The last volume is entitled Press File and in addition to containing cuttings it also contains Press Releases dating 15 March 1978 to March 1992

Croydon Writers Circle: Report on Croydon Authors Book Week

A handwritten report on the Croydon Authors Book Week held 4th to 8th November 1949 at the book shop W. H Smith Son, North End, Croydon. The document does not state the authors name or give the year. However dated photographs contained within this collection and an early history of the Croydon Writers Circle written by Nancy Martin and held in the Local Studies Library reference pqS70(806)CRO place it as 1949. There is indication within the report that it was the first.
